Trying to find a pet round for my Tikka T3 Tactical .223 1:8, any advise?

I have loaded the following round for two Rem 700's and 3 savages, all with 1:9 twist 26 inch bbls, each one shot easily half moa.

I have used this at matches out to 800 yards and it flies well.

Lapua brass, SMK 77gn bullet, Varget 24gn, CCI BR4 Primer, COL 2.36
Mvel 2800 fps

The 80 Bergers or Sierras, or 75 Amax are great. The 77 grain Sierra SMK was designed for loading in AR15 magazines and is quite short; its BC is reflected in that. ALso, the throats on the tikka 223's may be rather long. I would tend to find the longest bullets you can under 81 grains to get in a good seating depth relative to the lands.

I love those rifles! You should have an easy time finding a great load!

Hi
I'm still working on mine load but so far Hornady 68 with 25,2 Varget or 75 Gr with 25 Gr of Varget in Hornady's brass with winchester primers show very good results (bthp bullets)
have to try longer distance though

I load 50gr Vmax and 80gr Amax for my T3 Varmint .223 1:8 twist
CCI BR4 primers and H335 for the 50gr Vmax
CCI BR4 primers and Varget for the 80 gr Amax

Both are capable of .25 MOA or better in my rifle.

I love ball powders for their smooth metering. I can volumetrically measure BL-C2 and in a Hornady Lock 'N Load system, it is under 1/10th of a grain difference from load to load.

If only it was a cleaner burning powder....

Iève always weighed every charge. Then I built a sporter weight 1-8 .223 AI. I built it to shoot 75 amax as far out as I wanted, and a buddy suggested I try H335, so I did. He caught me weighing charges and about died laughing. He bet me that his thrown charges would shoot as well as my weighed ones. These are field guns, but we shoot them wayyy out there. Granted I still weigh my f class charges, but I can load way quicker, and spend more time shooting, and less time loading this way.

I have a Tik Tac 223 also .. would anybody like to comment if the barell length would change your 'recipe' as Tik Tacs come in 20 and 24" lengths. I have the shorter guy...

Japseye, is the term Japseye universally understood? I always thought it was the vernacular of where I grew up as a child.
