trying to find info on my 223 enfield

Hi All
I have been trying net searches for info on the 223 enfield i purchased recently, but no luck

serials are pretty much worn off, only real info is a converted sporter No:4 mk 1 and the receiver is a "goldy" colour and marked " 223 rem " on one side and in small letters on the other " england "

year is 1946 ?

serial is M76###

magazine PF ###xx

stainless steel barrel

extractor is different from the 5.56 craig whitsney conversion i have

any ideas about who made the conversion ?

I had a friend in Gibbons, AB who used to build heavy barreled single shot .223 "gopher guns" on No4 LE actions. He only used Long Branch or Savage actions. I don't recall him using stainless barrels.

Is there a ring silver soldered to the breech face, that encloses the cartridge head?

How well does it eject?
