Any one know of a Canadian dealer who has access to sig p229 with, legal for us, barrels. Seem to be hard to come by. Any info would be great, likely have a few months for rpal arrival, so have time to shop around. Thanks if you can assist.

Just went through the same thing. Found many online dealers with 229's listed, only to go there and find out there's none in stock. I was told they go quick on arrival. If you find one it may be a great idea to throw down a deposit. Questar may have a packaged version(with holster & extra mags).

I think the 229's with the Canadian barrels are made in very limited quantities, whereas the 226's are identical south of the border thus finding their way here more readily.

Don't know if you got a model or caliber in mind but some things to consider would be: double action/single action or double action only(dak), short reset trigger, night sights, beaver tail(comes on elite models), grip(can always be changed out), railed or non-railed. Mec gar mags are the best(says made in Italy in very small print).

I was at al Simmons in Hamilton, Ontario, a month ago and they had a lightly used 229 elite for sale, probably gone by now.

Good luck,

RM

Thanks guys, irunguns, is three to six months, Al Simmons says keep in touch may be in a month or two, maybe. Armco and questar et al have emails off from me, so should hear from them soon. Thanks again for the info..... The search goes on.

Rocket, as an aside, are you local to Hamilton, or area, and if so where do you shoot, looking for a club as well. Checked out eesa, sure like their layout, nice for indoors.

I am located in GTA, barrie gun club. BGC had it all, indoor 25 yard, 24/7, automated target retrieval, ventilated.

Not yet Rocket, found a ss elite in B C , but wood grips a quite thick, a bunch do m11a1's in Barrie, who also has some kits, so some are out there, but still can't locate my first choice, an enhanced elite p229. Have some time before my Rpal arrives so can continue the search, thanks for your concern.

Just so your aware the short reset triggers that come with the elite models have been posted to be somewhat problematic over time. Something about wear on the trigger bars that leads to a gritty trigger. If its something you want you may have to look at increased service on those parts prone to more than usual wear, not a big deal I guess.

Some have also commented the srt also alters that smooth single action trigger pull Sig's are famous for. Included some links, I'm a newb myself so can't comment personally, but I think the trigger pull on my 229 without srt is silky smooth in stock form and the reset isn't far off at all. First link is in relation to a p220, there's lots of garbled info out there on it.
