the Tokarev t33 is a neat gun and you cant beat the price point for the gun and for the surplus ammo. question is should i buy one? i have been looking for a pistol for a while and stumbled across this. the prices really attracted me. so should I?

let me know your opinions

cheers

Of the 3 pistols I own it's one of my favorite to shoot everyday.

Find a 9mm conversion for when surplus runs out.

what is a good price for one of these pistols and is there anything i should be looking out for?

cheers

I buy one and i have no regret, fun to shoot, cheap ammo, what's more?
For ammo try Trade Ex, great deal with free shipping.

x2 I made the mistake of buying from a small dealer on the ee bwc sports ,to save $20 bucks ,,also tradex didn't have any in at the time. The tt33 was not as advertized and is in good shape not very good with some staining on the barrel and one of the three mags I bought keeps sticking and another has a rust hole in it.He told me to clean the mags and get back to him ,I did and he hasn't answered ! Tradex has always done right and underestimates their guns also tradex gives you 2 mags ,some others only 1.
I will be ordering another from tradex !

x3 Made the mistake of going to Badger Arms about one year ago when Anthony was out of pre-war TT33. Deal in confidence with Tradeex - I currently have a complaint filed with consumer protection folks over my dealings with Badger...

323gtx you don't mention how much experience you have with handguns, The TT33 is a snappy little gun. I don't own one but have shot several of them and found it a challenge to hit anything with them. A lot of practice would no doubt improve accuracy once I got used to the re-coil. I was thinking of getting one in 9 mm (Nork) just for fun and easy to find ammo.

I almost bought one but decided against it because I just didn't need another pistol calibre to worry about. I have no regrets. Sounds like others like it though.

i just pulled the trigger on a gsg so i think i will learn to shot on that for a while and save up for tokorev (cheap ammo) or start reloading (45apc)

too many decisions

and i had to leave my gun at the store 2 hours away sad day. waited over 3 hours for registration but i guess it was a busy day in the sask cfo office.

im reminded of the simpsons episode where homer is waiting for his gun.

cheers

Based on my own experience I would say you made a good decision.

As your first pistol I don't think a TT 33 is a good choice for most people. I purchased one recently and when it arrived I was very impressed. Sure the fit and finish was poor but it did come with 2 mags, a holster, lanyard, and a cleaning rod. For the money it seemed like very good value. The bore was shiny and the rifling was strong. I don't think it had been used much if any. I purchased a crate of surplus and off to the range I went.

At the beginning it would FTE about 2 or three times per mag. I have been making adjustments and cleaning and I have it down to about an FTE every other magazine now. The grip has broken twice and I find that if I put many rounds through it my hand gets very sore. Not from the recoil but more from the narrow profile.

I think most people would be very frustrated by all this and would probably be very disappointed. Not the experience you want for your first pistol.

For myself, I am actually enjoying the challenge. I am very skilled technically so I am confident that with some effort I will get this gun running smoothly. The broken grip doesn't bother me because I know I will be ordering new grips in the M-201 style. This should solve my sore hand problem as it will improve the angle and the width of the grip.

When it does go bang it is a lot of fun. The gun is loud and there is noticeable muzzle flash and sparks. Who doesn't like fireworks? I am also finding it to be reasonably accurate.

Replace the original, decades old springs with new ones from Wolff.

I did and my FTL's and FTE's disappeared. Also, I reload for the 7.62x25mm
round and don't have to worry about cleaning shortly after shooting corrosive
surplus ammo.

Might want to try wiping down the surplus rounds with a bit of oil or G96 to clean them up a bit... Solved my issue

Thanks for the tip! I ordered new springs. I plan on buying some reloadable ammo. Any suggestions? Also I would be interested in any reloading info you may be able to offer.

I had cleaned the surplus rounds prior to their use but I didn't use any oil. Just a clean rag. I will try that as I wait on the springs.

Starline brass is readily available, bullets also. I like cast bullets, so I chose to get a mould & shoot an 89 gr RN over 5 gr of Unique. Works for me.

Henry N has the brass you need, plus powders and bullets too.
I have used these:

Starline brass, worked slowly up to 7 gr of Unique, using CCI and Winchester small pistol primers. Rod B's load recipe would be great for a cast bullet too.

My buddy bought one and it was a blast to shoot, real fun.

We put about 600 rounds through it and only had 1 stove pipe in the day.
