What other people use for their loads will not be useful for you. Every rifle is different. Even rifles from the same brand can be different. My advice to you would be to measure your COAL first. Then do a ladder test starting 50 thousands from the lands to find your good powder load. From there you can try 75 thousands, 100 thousands, 125 thousands, from the lands...That's What Barnes recommend.

.050" off the lands is a good starting place for the barnes. Whether your rifle will handle that length in the mag is a different matter. It's hard to go wrong with Varget, 4895 or 4064 but availability is yet another matter.

I have two very different .308s - A Browning BLR and A Tikka T3x. With the browning, I tried all the commonly recommended powders - Varget, IMR 4064, RL15, BLC2, H4895 with 168 TTSXs. The best ended up being 46.5 grains of CFE223 + FED 210 + 168 TTSXs + Hornady Brass - Velocity AVE. was 2710 FPS - pretty good speed for a 20" Barrel.

For the Tikka, I started with CFE 223 and got 2 loads that together, averaged .93" at 100 Yards - again, this accuracy load was 46.5 g of CFE223 (+FED 210 + 168 TTSX + Norma Brass). No need to go further with this.

Might be just a coincidence that the accuracy load ended up being the same for two different rifles, but perhaps not.
