Tubb Final Finish

I think it would be kinda hard to wear out a barrel with 50 rounds.

:runaway::runaway:
pretty much every expert that isnt in the business of selling these lapping compounds will tell you that fire-lapping is one of the worst things you could do to a barrel. not only does it prematurely wear your barrel and wear it larger at throat, but it wears the pressure side/edge of the rifling as the bullet bears against it.
of course the barrels foul less - youve just removed material and microscopically smoothed the edges of the rifling in your barrel. the idea that shooting abrasive bullets down your gun to 'improve' the bore is absolutely absurd - its simply accelerated wear.

its your money, and your barrel though. god knows enough people believe in this stuff to keep these snakeoil salesmen in business year after year.

and BTW of course the manufacturers site is going to do its best to assuage any fears that it will wear out a barrel and provide its own miraculous testimonials - theyre in the business of selling a product.

So I am assuming that firelapping is the same? Never done any of this before, so appreciate all the responses.
Now, would JB be bad for bores also? It is abrasive, but maybe not to the same degree as this product.

yes, and yes.

seriously, just go enjoy your rifle with normal, non-moly coated bullets that it was designed for. stay away from any of the snakeoil salesman crap like compounds, coatings and polishes and any barrel break-in or conditioning juju.

excessive, obsessive cleaning also does more harm than good (some people clean after every 1-3 shots :runaway:).

is there some accuracy problem you are trying to remedy or were you just considering this as a way of improving accuracy?

Phone Ted Gaillard, Dan Lilja, or Mike Rock and ask them what they think about Final Finish....

I'll give you a hint....Put on a neck brace before you ask the question! :slap:
