The convenience of topping-off easily (and no need to buy more mags) of a tube-fed rifle has me interested. But, for a rimfire, I might as well get a semi-auto since there's no ammo limit on it.

So far, the only gun I've found that fits that criteria is the Marlin Model 60 (Of which there is a surprising lack of threads on here for, or the search function is even more broken than it previously was). Do any of you own one? How does it fare? Does it need any tweaking?

What alternatives are there?

I will be shooting it mostly Southpaw (Curse you eye dominance!), so it needs to be at least fairly lefty-friendly.

Thanks in advance.

My model 60 is extremely accurate.

The trigger is pretty bad though. There are quick fixes to be found by Google (one involves a pen srping).

Or you could swap out the trigger for a good aftermarket and still have a cheap, supremely accurate gun. I've left it stock.

My wife doesn't shoot a lot, but she is not bad. She really likes the Marlin (most firearms in general). Last time at the range she was one holing double taps. Shoot one, and then try to shoot through the hole a second time.

I was watching with a scope, and a few times I couldn't see a change in the size of the hole. Sometimes it was just noticeable.

This was only 25 yds., but I bet you could put a full tube (14 rounds) in a dime at that range, being only a little careful.

I shoot trap clays at 100 yds. with ease, and follow up on the pieces.

Browning makes a neat little .22 that you might want to look at, although it might be a little more money than you are looking to spend. It has bottom eject which might be good for a southpaw.

The ammo capacity is a bit short, but color me interested.

Looking around, it seems Norinco makes a clone of it (JW-20). Any experience with those? (Yes, I'm aware that Norinco is a mixed bag, let's not start with the CHINA BAD thing, okay?)

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Keep 'em coming! :D
