Simple question but it seems like these have fallen out of favour in the new markets. Does anyone know who still makes bolt action .22lr's with tube mags? All I'm seeing are the Marlin 900 series.

Marlin 60. $189 semi-auto. 14 shot tubular magazine. Last shot hold open feature. Grooved receiver. Highly recommended.

If your heart is set on an under barrel mag, then there are many older .22s that fit the bill. Most are as accurate or better than the new ones. Cooeys and Marlin 81s come to mind and they shoot fantastic. I have 3- 81s and they have proven themselves against many of the newer or big named bolts. How about a stock mag like the Mossberg 151s...they make a great target rifle yet can be used for plinking.

i have a winchester 190. those old floating bolt tube guns are great, they rarely jam up, have pretty reasonable capacities and handle shorts, long, and long rifle ammunition. only thing mine wont cycle is the CCI CB shorts.

there was a springfield 87a tube gun on the exchange the other day for 150 bucks, alot of gun for the money.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not dead set on a tube magazing but I do prefer them to a box mag. My dad has an old Cooey that has had who know's how many rounds put through it and I really like it. Except for the ejector...its sticky and doesn't eject very well. I will however have to go take a look at that Springfield on the EE.

Reason I like the tube mags is that they have a decent capacity and are easier to load than box mags I find(faster). And you never lose the damned things....not that its ever been an issue in the past...

My Stevens 87 has a 17 shot mag and is one of the most accurate guns I shoot. It really surprised me when it grouped within 2'' at 100 yards using a 3x9x scope. Gophers hate it when it is around.
