Thanks for the link, very interesting article. I'll keep that one bookmarked. I always wondered about bimetal jackets and finding out they burn out chrome lined barrels more than twice as fast as copper jacketed bullets isn't too surprising. I shoot bimetal ammo through some of my cheaper guns (both surplus and modern) but avoid it in any rifle I like.
As for Tula ammo, I tried some in a Savage Axis. At 100yds the rifle can shoot 1.5" off a bench with decent factory ammo, about 2" with really cheap US made ammo, and I've found a couple handload recipes that shoot a tad under 1" with 69gr SMK's. For a $350 rifle that's pretty good. The Tula ammo was another matter all together. I tried 20rnds of the 55gr HP, 55gr FMJ, and 62gr HP and they all shot horribly. I shot four 5-round groups of each and I don't have my notebook handy but I remember them all being around 4" groups at 100yds. As mentioned, I also remember them being quite dirty. This was all last summer so I don't remember the specifics. I do remember being thoroughly unimpressed with the ammo in terms of accuracy.
It could just be that my specific rifle doesn't like the stuff, or I got a wonky batch, but I wasn't impressed much. If you're looking to blast away or do rapid fire practice at shorter ranges, it'll work just fine, but if you're looking for 100yrd+ accuracy I wouldn't recommend Tula.
