Tula SKS on Gunbroker

wow, what a win fall for the owner, he didnt even have a clue what it was worth till the bids took off, lucky for him he didnt sell it privately.

What you see there is an original 1949 Tula SKS. Note the spike bayonet. This is in the realm of a production prototype rifle. Few made and most converted to the later common pattern.

7 grand? Well, that's just whacked. Auction fever!

$600? It looks like it's in incredible shape.

But I'd never spend so much for a gun made for reserve troops...

When first issued it was envisioned that most of the squad would have the SKS and Sgts. would carry the AK. Tactics evolved quickly after that and soon it was realised that the AK was ideal for the motor rifle division concept.

Dam....you sure thats not a fake bid ??? :

it could be cos the winner does not have a good trade rating 4+ and 1- . the negative came when he back out of a buy.

i just sh*t my pants when i converted how many norinco sks i could get for the same price , hahah.

US$7375= C$8333 divide by C$150+tax = 49 norinco sks

There's an original, unmodified '49 somewhere in Canada? Carumba!

Well this one had a receiver cover scope mount and red dot on it, (go figure) but the owner assured me he kept the original cover for it.

Months later when I really got into SKS's I almost fell out of my chair when I found out what I almost had. :runaway:

I was short only $50.00.

Now I check EVERY SKS I come across...btw I know for a fact that there are a bunch of Albanian SKS in BC as well. Sooner or later...my precious. :D

I feel your pain. I have one Albanian in my collection which came from Allan's Armory and exported via Leroy's

I'd have tap danced in a clown suit in the parking lot to make that $50.00 ;)

hey calum, next time you are short $50 , give me a shout, i will swim across the strait to give it to you for a 50% interest .:D :D :D

Problem with the Albanian SKS is that ti seems production quality fell off SHARPLY. I've seen high quality digital stills of many examples. they range from "finely machined to the level of a Russian made piece" to "nearly pot metal - don't know if I want to actually fire this death trap". Not unlike the Chinese SKS variance in quality.

This has to be a faked bid. No way ANYONE would pay almost $8000 for an SKS. It'd take another 100 years to make that rifle anywhere near as valuable.
