Hey everyone!

I just picked up a Tulsky PU sniper. I did my homework and everything seems to be golden so far. Even laser bore sighted it - Bang on to point of aim at 25m. elevation and declination screws are staked.. (common??) I also know the front metal cap on the stock has been visible shaved down from factory.. which appears to allow free floating. To my surprise once I pulled the metal from wood I found shims... Shims everywhere. inside the stock and out. Was just wondering how common this much additional work from the factory was, if any of you have any insight? I can post pics.
Thanks all!

1943 Tula from Tulsky import. Yes there are some gems to be found.

Stock was shimmed and screws staked. Question, at 100 yard setting is the horizontal line of the scope in the top 30% of the glass?

My elevation was bang on but I had to adjust windage to allow for my progressives.

Sniper rifles got extra coats of lacquer or Shellac (depends on year) to add additional water resistance and mitigate warping that might make the rifle less accurate. It's in the Yushenko book.

So this is during original production, and then presumably re-done in a similar fashion during refurbishment?

Bulriver, Yes the optics are calibrated to have the point of aim at the upper 1/3 of the scope. It seems to have been done very well. Having had the elevation / declination staked however, I dont think I'm all too comfortable prying the mount off. Even with the thumb screw floating loose those two screws have it tight.
