Tulsky Oruzheiny Zavod

Let us know how it goes would you Norma? I've been thinking about picking one up if they are any good. I like the price of them, that's for sure. :)

Ordered rifle Thur at 6:00 AM, got confirmation at 10:00 AM, received rifle at noon today. Great job from Epps and Canada Post. Weighs 6.8lb came with (x2) 6 shot mag and see thru rings that attaches to dovetail. The barrel is free floated and bore is chrome plated. Wood looks like Beech, soft, will bang up easily. Barrel blueing looks great comes with 100m & 300m flip sight. Front sight is covered. Has butter knife bolt that is fairly smooth. Trigger isn't worse I ever seen. I put a Bushnell 4200 3x9. Can't wait to try it on weekend. I think it will be a great camp rifle that will fit nicely behind seat of my Belarus. ;)
Here's a few pic if I remember how.

Norma, now that you've had this rifle for a few months, how does it shoot? I'm interested in it since it's fitting most of requirements. Stretching my google fu, North American reviews are pretty sparse and unhelpful. European reviews require some translating and I'm having lots of lost in translation moments. Europeans are basically calling it a "very Russian" rifle. This meaning a workhorse rifle with terrible finish. Average accuracy seems to be 1.75" groups at 100m. What's your experience?

Very Russian indeed LOL I shot a 2" group at 100yd, but it was -25 with a bad wind and I only tried one type of ammo. Was waiting for it to warm up to give it a good shooting with different ammo. I had to file down the plastic part of the magazine to make it load easier. Good now. One piece scope ring/base might bind scope and affect accuracy if your not careful. I took off 4200 and put a 4x Banner for now. Nice functional open sights on it. It's perfect for my camp/tractor rifle. Like I said, I need to shoot some more with it to really see what it can do.

Ah thanks. So far it sounds like everything I'm reading from the Euro sites is true. Interestingly, quite a few of them even use the same scope set up as you:D

Interesting Observations:
The Finns and Czechs hate it. Always citing CZs, Tikkas, Sakos or "some English rifle" as better alternatives. Wonder why?

Poles, Lithuanians, and some other Baltic regions are pretty positive about it. Calling it decent for the money.

Russians are like: What is wrong with 7.62x54r?

Every where else is: meh, kinda want.

Finns and Czechs hate it because they build better rifles than TOZ. The others like it because they don't. Either way not a top of the line rifle but pretty good value. Comparable to Mossberg 4x4 or Remington 770?

No problem, Will never be my go to rifle, like I said it's a great camp rifle, you leave it behind the seat of the tractor while working etc. No its not in the same price/quality class as a Sako, CZ or Tikka. They dont compare at all.
If this would be your only rifle, I would suggest you get a good used Husky at Trade Ex. For me, it's just another interesting toy in my collection. :D

While I've no experience with that rifle, I did have a TOZ 12 22 target rifle in my teens. It would shoot as well as the much more expensive low end Anschutz rifles in the club.
It also had a beech stock, poor checkering, just ugly. But it worked well.

I was looking at them, price is right, might pick one up next visit at Epps.

I was being sarcastic.

This, unfortunately has become my situation. I'm reducing the amount of rifles I have to just two. Already have one reserved for a good ol' .22. Sold my SKS and other rifles in niche calibres. After I get my M305 back from the doctor, I'll have to sell that, too. Since I have the reloading equipment, I'm looking for a .308Win bolt action rifle with iron sights and scope bases. Under 43" in overall length and under 8lbs. So far, the search isn't going well in new or used markets. Really hard to find .308 with iron sights. The Husky's only come in .30-06 and 9.3x57. So they're out of the question.
