My Frankford Arsenal tumbler has gone dead 13 months after purchase (and more to the point, 1 month after warranty, despite only low use). Any recommendations for a replacement? If I guess right, these aren't worth "repairing" at a shop. I don't need industrial size, as I do mostly pistol plinking.

I have the Lyman Turbo 1200, but with the amount of shooting and reloading I do, I also have a Lyman 2500 Pro Magnum Turbo.

Get the 2500 Pro Mag, it will clean about 1500 9mm.

Another item on my equipment upgrade & I opted for an RCBS Sidewinder. It has the capability/flexibility to use either a dry medium or chemical 'concotcion'. Works great & no complaints so far.

Any Lyman Auto-Flo - because you don't need a separator, it's built right in. As long as you don't get the media to gunked up with additives, it will shake right out of the cases in a few minutes when you're done.

Dont think so. maybe pistol cases. I have to manually shake out most cases anyways. In the media rifle cases lay random while tumbling but when you start draining the media, most cases vibrate neck up.:(

That said. The tumbler works great.

I saw that Harbor Freight in the USA has an electric 1 1/2 cubic foot cement mixer for $99.00 in their catalog. It should work really well and you can even use it for mixing cement if you needed to.

what has happened exactly? I would almost bet I could get it going for you with no more than a can of WD40 and some high pressure air.

I have been using a Lyman 1200 since 1995, considering the fact that I shoot for a living this tool has done sterling service, in 1997 the fan came loose so I used 601 Loctite on the offending item...it is still working.
I might note that I use only fortified corncob, and that I do not envisage replacing this tool in the near future.........after all, it has outlasted half a dozen barrels plus several rifles!
All in all a marvelous purchase.

Ps. I empty my cases using a Dillon tumbling cage...this I can also recommend.

I have a large vibrating tumbler for rocks. It has a huge tub and can be used wet or dry. Works a bit slower than tumblers designed specifically for brass, but then again, it can handle 15 to 20 lbs of brass per batch.

Shjt, if you were here I'd fix it for free.:) You don't know anyone with a soldering iron???
I think it's a little more complex than that. The break in the wire is down inside some plastic tube than in itself doesn't look like it wants to be removed. But thanks for the offer :)

if it's dead and you're on the mainland I'll happily take it's corpse from you. probably make a good parts machine for mine ;)

I still prefer my Midway tumbler over my much larger Dillon. it just simply gets the brass cleaner and puts a better shine on them. Don't know why. exact same media, same solution in the media too.

i first got a lyman 3200 back in 75- it quit about 2 years ago, just sat and hummed- now i've got a 2500 with the autoflow- there was only the lyman back then, and 25 years of work is good enough for me
