I think it's a little more complex than that. The break in the wire is down inside some plastic tube than in itself doesn't look like it wants to be removed. But thanks for the offer :)

I have a Franklin Arsenal Tumbler which had the wire break on me (only 6 months after purchase!). These things are super simple to fix. Don't be afraid to take it apart. It goes back together real easy. Nothing complicated about them...an AC motor with an offset weight mounted to the bottom of the bowl and a few other plastic pieces to hold everything together and make it look attractive.
I fixed mine no problem. The original wires were attached using crimped connectors (The plastic tube you speak of). Cut the wires and splice on a new one..solder...tape viola...all fixed!

BTW the repair I made has been working longer than the original now.

Ha...got it back from the small appliance repair shop, worked fine for about 4 hours then packed up again - this time no obvious broken wire - back in it went.

I have the Lyman and the Frankford. I had the wire break the day after I got it, but the fine people at Wholesale in Kamloops took it in the back and fixed it for me and it has been working ever since.

I do prefer the Lyman simply because you can remove just the bowl to dump into your separator, the Frankford requires you to carry the entire unit to the separator.

I hope you get it working....sounds like you may have got the one made on a Friday at 4:59 before a long weekend :D

So - within a week, both of the critical wires broke. The shop took pity on me and only charged me $10 for the second repair. Anything more, out the window it goes.

Glad it's up and running. If it happens again just open it up yourself and replace the wires with your own soldering job. A human made solder is sure to last longer than one that runs through a high production machine.

..... Been using a Lyman 1200 since about 1978 ( and it was used when I got it!) 'Still working just fine ! If you need parts, the Customer Service at Lyman are really good to deal with ! For polishing media, I've found, for me anyway, "Lizard Litter" from the local Pets-Mart works just fine. In the past, I've thrown in a bit of Brasso when the media gets at little beyond it's normal life span. ... David K. ....

I've been using a Lyman Turbo 600 base with a 1200 tub for 20 years. Only thing I've replaced is the tumbling media. ( I like the corn-cob over the walnut with jewellers rouge).
