Hey guys,
I just bought a Dillon 550 to reload pistol calibers.(first press ever) I still need to buy a few things: a scale: what brand and should I go digital, Is it worth the price difference. A tumbler; something I should know?, they all look the same to me. I know some Lyman models have the ability to separate your brass from the media??useful? A handbook; a guy I would tend to trust suggested the Lyman 48th edition to begin with. What do you say? Thank you for your help,

Dillon scales are good beam or digital. The lyman 48th is good reloading book for pistol and rifle. If you are going to reload alot, get a tumbler with a big bowl, you can clean more brass.Sinc this is your first reloading press take things slow and easy when you start to reload.

The Dillon 5?? scale is virtually the same thing as the RCBS 505.. Only 1/2 half the price, both use the same beam mechanism made by Ohaus.

Moe,
Beam scale is cheaper, but buy an electronic scale if you can afford one. You will not regret it. PACT BBK is an affordable electronic scale - $89.00 US from PACT dot com or B-Enos dot com.

You will need a caliper too. The electronic caliper will cost you $19.00 at Canadian Tire when they are on sale. :)
