Tumbling media

I believe there is some importance in the process of reloading , not only does clean brass re size much nicer but it also enhance defects that would other wise be missed on dirty brass just my two cents
 
I do not exactly what type of plastic beads I have. All I know is that work great for me. I'm not anal about shiny brass, just clean brass.

I don't know of a Canadian source for ss media (pins which won't get stuck in flash holes or case mouths) but a number of US companies will ship to Canada includes Sinclair, "Mark" from Sniperhide, and SS Media. Canadian Tire sells Lemishine, Dawn dish shop can be had anywhere.
 
Ok. I can't hold back any longer. Thank you for bringing up rice. Rice has been mentioned on other gun boards, and a lot of people just don't want to admit to using it because it's not as cool as exotic nut shells. The usual route is to buy it in big bags from Walmart or Costco. It's so cheap you can go through lots of it and not care. As for the evil chemical in brasso, it has to be harmful, or it won't clean anything. Harm is what gets things clean. In a lab they leave it on and watch brass disintegrate. You don't leave it on your brass, and as has been mentioned, it's so diluted, a little harm does a lot of good. Throw some vinegar in there. Carb cleaner. Boil it all in diluted lye. Nuke it...
 
From reading this thread and others, it seems like just about everything will work to tumble brass. Might as well smash some glass and mix it in with some lego and steel filings and your brass will be clean in the end.

Not quite. Had some outdoor pickup brass that (unknown to me) had some dirt/fine stones inside the cases. Scratched the entire lot of brass all to hell.....
