Hey Shooters,
Can anyone tell me if Turbo actions area available in Canada? Thinking of a match rimfire rifle project. And while on the subject, as well, are Benchmark barrels in 22rimfire available too?

Later,

the last word on turbo actions

bought a finished gun in 2008 spring, could not get canada to add it to the list, got specs from flash ebert (the maker) and it was not good enough so I sold the gun at a loss in the us of a .

also flash was very sick before christmas when I spoke to him, not sure how long he is making actions,

(also consider the port is too small for loading and most gunsmiths open it up) (also the 52 action is similar so buy a 52 in the usa have it imported and then rework it)

the stiller actions will work when gerry gets off his fat duff and produces them for export as he exports his stuff to robertson already.

I have 2 halls, 1 swindlehurst and 2 40x's and some others, the turbo is popular only because bill calfee (I call him vitamin c as after so much you just pee out the excess BS) killled the swindlehurst by saying it did not have enough ignition in his famous report,

also the galin actions are not being made by the brothers as of last fall (I asked again every year)

I tried to get interest in importing a dozen halls for 200 above the retail price to pay for the permit and got a total of

zero ineterest, so go figure,

I am also trying to get a rimfire team for the world championships in the usa next year, that is also going nowhere,

back to the cave now

ps my 4 barrels on these guns are benchmark, nice stuff, got them on the guns before importing just before the deadline for permits,

If your looking to import 22 actions put me down for one of these. I got tired of waiting on Stillers 40x clone and found this potential offering.

More details: 5.75" long, 1.3" diameter, bolt is .6875" dia. Action is 17-4 stainless RC 36, and the bolt is 4141 RC 43. It has the standard Anschutz sight dovetail on top. Bolt lift is 75 degrees to clear our iron sight windage knob.

The action maker is Sgt. Eric Uptagraft
You can read his thread here. http://benchrest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48655

Question to Jefferson are the Galin actions worth pursing? If there is enough positive feedback maybe we could get some type of group buy going?

Thanks
Trevor

could still be an issue to bring in like the Turbo actions have been for Jefferson. Best bet is to go with a tried and true that has been around for a while. Turbos have been and he could not get it in without a HUGE headache.

Thanks for the info, Jeff.
If you ever lose interest in your Swindlehurst, let me know. :)

Well, I could pull the bbl off my Kimbner (of Oregon) and add a good bbl too. The action is good and nice trigger on it.

Erics action will not be available

in Canada ,he has no intention of spending 2250 before he can export as he will sell all he can in the usa for the next year or 2, I asked,

stiller is OK if he ever finishes them,

again buy a 52 or a 40x and bring them into canada via clay at prophet river

there is a nice 40x on br central classifieds with a neat triangular barrel,

they are expensive but what else do we do,

my swindlehurst was over 4g and the halls were 3800 each so I am into them for a pile, and have not shot them yet,
the story of my life

Some BR shooters are enjoying SUHL's or something like that. A Russian action that seems to be popular.

maybe these rifles can be brought in and parted out????

I saw that one of the big gun dealers in the US had a bunch so maybe these would be way easier to get. Plus the price would be WAY less too.

I don't shoot Rimfire BR but reports show Shilen is making barrels that can compete right there with the other 'best' barrels.

These I can offer in any number and configuration.

Lots of info on 6mmBR.com in their general topics and gun of the week builds.

Let me know....

Jerry

Suhls are East German and no longer made, but hear that they shoot well and as Jerry says, if we could get them for the actions.. Anschutz are still hard to beat, as are Walther, with the last being held in the highest regard by the test boss at Lapua GmbH and SK Jagd und Sport Munition GmbH.

Americans BR shooters immediatly throw away Anshutz barrels without testing and replace with Shilen as first choice, as well as Lilja and others. Would like to try Gaillard.22 barrels, as he makes top stuff and is a sweet guy.

Bought some M1913 rails to mount NF BR scopes on 54 and 64 rifles and plan to see what they will do with assortment of .22 ammo from Germany.

Regards,

Peter

Correct Peter, East German and rifles are listed for dirt cheap. How to get? How to get?

maybe MARSTAR has an in with this Euro stuff?????
Canadaammo?

Who are the dist that bring in the CZ and other guns from that part of the world?

Can't only be US dist that get approached on this surplus stuff.

Jerry

suhls are

really good shooters notwithstanding there 17 1/2 or so twist barrels in canada, usually we use a faster twist for rimfire up here,

I brought in 3 suhls from jim williams (williams precision) and they were great shooters, as good as the best br guns, and yes I have some of those, I sold all 3 and they are in use and shoot very well, I just did not like the stocks as they were macmillians and no buttplate on some of them, I like the robertson I helped design, if one of the owners could post the target I sent with the rifle you would melt with envy (about 20 groups of 5 shot each in the 2's or less)

also the suhls that are still in the original configuration are not as great shooters as the ones hand picked through by jim or others. so be carefull when buying or importing, you may not be getting what you hope,

any other BR questions, I like that line of questioning,

later
