There is still quite a bit of snow in the bush here. I actually got the ATV stuck for a bit when it bottomed out on the snow as I was crossing a small creek.

I haven't heard any gobbles yet but the woodcock are "peeping" like crazy.

We still have two feet of snow and I saw a woodcock yesterday... he is gonna starve before the worms come up...

I'm only a couple hours south (Kingston area) and the Turkey's are out and about and no snow back in the woods.

Had one strutting around waving the full fan in a field right beside the 401 at 6:30 this morning as I was going into work - just teasing me :)

I am in southern Ontario down London way and a week ago I saw a flock 12-15 woodcock feeding along the only unfrozen edge of a water hole at the end of my driveway. Snowing, blowing and about the only spot that the ground wasn't frozen. I can count the woodcock on one hand I have seen in 50 years so this was something for me and even got a couple of pics as anyone I have talked to around here has never seen a large group like that. Turkeys are starting to move and break out of their winter flocks so it will be henned up birds at first but come the last week ten days of the season the big boys will be out to play
