A good friend of mine bought 40 plus acres in southern BC it is mountainous with a creek and some pasture hay land.
There are Turkeys already but he is wondering what a good food plot would be?
Any help would be appreciated.

Turkeys are broad feeders... alot of the time when you see them in green fields, they are feeding on worms and insects and not the green shoots... but tilling and planting freshly over-turned soil can be a good attractant... oats, rye and wheat are good options as are various other grains and bean crops. You will find that the birds forage naturally throughout the woods more than out in the open... they are just more visible in the open.

had turkeys last winter picking corn out of the remains of a corn silage stack. it was the dead of winter and they were not spooky.have had them come into a cattle barn hunting for feed. when turkey season rolls around they are long gone.

Spread fresh manure. They love picking in it. I've had them standing on the s**t pile by the barn several times once things start to warm up. When turkey seasons over then plant something for the deer.
