Turkey Gun

Good afternoon everyone.

I am looking to get a new gun for Turkey. I will only use it for Turkey. As such, I am looking for the best gun for the job and it will only have one job, killing Turkeys.

Light Weight. I am thinking 20 gauge but am open.
Pistol grip or thumb through grip with stock for ease of carry.
I have carpal tunnel and tendinitis, so semi-action would be preferred.
Realtree or other such camo finish
nice choke for tight pattern.

Any thoughts?

Ellwood Epps has the SPS version of the 870 and 887 in stock.

Edited, I had the wrong one linked, but they do have them.

To the OP, What type of gun are you used to shooting. Any shotgun can kill turkeys if your a good shot. I'd stick more to a 12 gauge myself, but a 20 will do the job. My advice for a quality shotgun is the BPS, but they are a little on the heavy side.

EDIT: Hussar beat me too the links. Also, he/she is correct about the gauge for turkey. In 20 gauge, I find the BPS to be very nice and light but I think its too heavy in 12 gauge with 28" barrel.

For a dedicated Turkey gun a Benelli Supernova with a 21-24 inch barrel in 20 is a good Choice.

Thanks for the links Cintax and Hussar_ca, I think I like that one even more with the touch longer barrel. Not sure about the cheap red dot anyway and I could add it later if wanted. And sorry to BoogerChew for hijacking the thread.

Too bad it has to be a semi-auto. Ithaca has a good record of making rather stellar M37/87 Turkeyslayers.

Just a thought. If u want light weight and easy to carry have u looked at Hnr/ nef single shots. Baikal makes a solid single as well. I've found the fixed full chokes on these guns to pattern very well. Most turkey hunting is over with the first shot anyway

Best bang for your bang is a three barrel mossberg 535 or 500 combo. Get one with a bird barrel, slug and turkey barrel.

I have the new 3 barrel Mossberg. I hate it. Really do not like the idea of switching barrels. I would rather have a gun for each job. So this season it is a turkey gun. What about the Remmington 11-87 http://www.remington.com/en/product...1-87-sportsman-super-mag-shurshot-turkey.aspx

I like this Ithaca variant. But I don't mind the replaceable barrels at all.
