Anyone else getting the itch? Just booked 3 days off work for it. Can't wait! Gonna hunt up in the Barrie area this year:dancingbanana:

Dave.

Last year was a bust, we did see lots but none in gun range..... Hopefully this year we will have better luck! Right now I'm really getting the itch for some Snow goose hunting in the conservation season..... Just need to wire together an e-caller and drop into cabelas for a few more dekes, and I'm ready!

But nothing beats the feeling you get when that tom's strutting in gun range a few feet away;)

Don't toss those flight feathers, I collect 'em :runaway: :)
Hey thanks for the pm's folks, very very nice , I plan on collecting a bunch 100 minimum to send out for finishing (flight feathers) so it would be a hassle for you , and cost me a bunch to collect small numbers. Any groups that hunt, and have them in bigger numbers (those 5 flight feathers l and r wing) I would be more than happy to pay shipping. Thanks again.

Oh you had to say it, didn't you!!

I've been floating through the off season with little withdrawls...and YOU had to bring up turkey hunting!! hahaha

On my way to my ice fishin hut the other day, I saw 20+ in the corn field munchin away!!

I can't wait!! I might attempt to take one with the bow this year!

I dont think I'll have a hard time getting time in turkey season, My boss is my hunting partner :):):):):)

The Itch started on the last weekend of may last year :)

Yep, there's nothing like getting up at 3 am to walk into the woods and poke yourself in the eyes with sharp sticks, to sit on the cold wet ground and wait until daylight, after which the black flies torture you without mercy, but you'd best not move or swat the little bastards, or even move to relieve the cramp in your legs from sitting on your butt, all in hope of outwitting a bird with a brain the size of a pea.....

Did I forget to mention that a tag costs as much as a good-sized butterball turkey that I can pick up at my leisure at a sane time of the day?

I think I am insane to even go out for this stuff. But I do.............

...............unless the crappies are biting!

Doug

"...Don't toss those flight feathers..." Exactly. And keep the left and right wing feathers separated. Then give 'em to an archer who makes his own arrows.

I've got the itch!!!!

I saw about 80-90 in 2 different groups in 2 different corn feilds beside each other when I was rabbit hunting Sat. And I got permission to hunt it all both sides of the river :D

The turkey tags may be pricey, but them store bought turkeys don't taste as good to me.

I wonder if I'm the only guy walking around the jobsite with a diaphragm call in my mouth, driving everybody else crazy ("What the...? There's that sound again! What IS that???"). :runaway:

John

Any legal bird to me is a trophy. That tail came off a 20 lb. tom, and the beard is 10 3/4'' long and I believe the spurs were 1 1/2'' long.
Please don't get me wrong, I totally agree, just was wondering if there was some sort of record keeping as with deer and so on, great wall mount. Is that like a kit you buy or home made, in any case looks very cool?

In Ontario, the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters maintains a registry of wild turkey kills that are reported to them.I don't think there are any hard and fast standards for trophy birds, but I could be wrong on that. That mounting kit is store bought, you can get them almost anywhere.

:D You might be the only guy.. and I may be the only woman! I carry mine in my purse and every once in a while will get it out and " chuck, chuck, chuck" :D Cool doing it in the stores and watching people look around as to where the sound is coming from!!!!!!!! :dancingbanana:

Our Chapter of the NWTF is having our 7th Annual dinner in Peterborough on March 1st, anyone interested can give me a P.M.
I saw fifty+ birds headed out of the food plot yesterday (Darryl and Chilly's favorite spot!) time to put the feed to them.

Doug

My buddy tries to point this out to me every year. AND, it's a valid point...

...But they get really pissy at the grocery store when you shoot them off the shelf! :D
