Turkey hunting Quebec

Just finished my online course and was just wondering if you receive anything besides the printed out attestation in order to buy your license every year?
 
You guys in Ontario get anything else(certificate/card)to supplement the attestation? I know all turkey hunters in North America have to take this course but it may vary province to province/state to state whether or not you are sent additional proof. Maybe should post in General forum since dont seem to be many hunters from Quebec in the Hunting forum.
 
AFAIK, after you pass the course you get a slip of paper to give to Service Ontario. They add the endorsement to your account and you can then buy turkey licenses. If you have this endorsement your Outdoors Card has a small 'T' on it next to the license class ('H1 or H2').

Well really not all north American hunters dont have to take this course, only Ontario and Quebec and as Quebec followed Ontario in this part. Not a bad thing but any hunter that wants to hunt Ontario has to take it Via Course or online DVD. Quebec does not allow Non Res to hunt turkey for now.

As for the online Quebec Course , I would think there was a number or you'll get something in the mail to assure you a license in the Province.

I just left the Montreal Sportsman show in Down town yesterday and there is a ton of people that have the same interest in Quebec...
 
At present non residents can not hunt turkeys in Quebec. Reason being is most non residents french language skills are not proficient enough to call turkeys. Under Quebec's bill 101 french language laws all turkeys must speak French.

I did the course last week as well, was really fun to do it online. I wish the PAL courses were online ;)
 
As looch pointed out, you'll receive a laminated card that you need when you want to buy your tag.

Turkey hunting is tons of fun, I'm sure you'll enjoy it :D
 
Thanks for the reply's fellas. Definitely looking forward to calling in some toms but first things first have to find a place to hunt them. I've seen turkeys more or less in my backyard in the past but I know just a bit South there are decent numbers so....gonna have to ask around. Will also need to stock up on appropriate camo and the GF has already promised a few articles to help me get going in the turkey hunting game.
 
Got my card yesterday so less than three days from the time I finished the online course till the time my card arrived at my house.That's pretty darn quick if you ask me.

Too funny.
I just finished my course Monday night. Should have the card soon. A good friend of mine has some family land up in the Pontiac area, apparently last time one of his relatives was up, they saw a group of about 60. Never Turkey hunted before, but gonna give it a try. Anyone know what size shot is recommended. Hoping to carry an old English Double my dad gave me with 32" barrels, full choke, so not looking for any of the new fancy shot. Going to have to find some old 2 3/4" stuff of the right size.

Not sure about Quebec regulations but in Ontario it is 20-10 gauge with #4, 5, 6 shot only. You do not need anything fancy really, I hunt them with an old single shot 20 gauge shotgun with #4 field shells and they drop quite easily. I like to wear camo, try not to make any noise and stay still. Turkeys are my favorite game to hunt, have fun and stay safe!
 
Thanks for that info. I believe it is the same here. I was leaning towards # 4 shot myself. Just have to find some suitable for the old girl. I'm not much into the new fancy stuff, just enjoy carrying the old guns. This gal with 32" barrels really reaches out, and is very accurate with a round ball.

After my Quebec Spring hunt fell through I'm wondering the same thing. I'd love to get out this Fall(relatives offered a spot) but apparently I need to take on Ontario course as well. Anyone know for certain?

Last year, I've been told that for non-residents, the only requirements to hunt Turkey in Ontario were to buy all these licenses...

$9.68 - Outdoor license
$112.46 - Small game
$27.49 - Turkey tag, Spring

HUNTING LICENSE REQUIREMENTS (Vermont)

  • General Requirements
    An applicant for a hunting or combination license must present either:
    • A previous or current hunting or combination license from any state or Canadian province, or
    • A certificate or a letter of proof showing satisfactory completion of an approved hunter safety course from Vermont or any other state or province, or
    • Other satisfactory proof of prior license or hunter safety certification. A person may be able to obtain a copy of the license from the clerk or agent where the last license was purchased, or a notarized statement signed by the clerk or agent is sufficient proof.
    • A person under age 16 must have his or her parent or guardian sign in the presence of an issuing agent to obtain a hunting license.

You may find some bilingual forest, west of province ;)
