Not gunna ask what the best gun is, but would like to know what are some good guns, and ammo to use.

a family friend told me, in a brief convo, he hunts with a Remington 10gauge and turkey slugs. Is this what everyone else hunts with? a 10guage?

let me know!

By Law in Ontario you have to use a shotgun no smaller than a 20 gauge and no larger than a 10 gauge. You also have to use only shells loaded with shot sizes 4,5 or 6.

As far as chokes go you can get by with anything from modified to the ###-Full some folks are running, patterning your gun and knowing your limitations are key to success.

If you are just starting to get into turkey hunting a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun is your best bet with a Turkey type choke.

ah well then! i got punked! haha i'm just getting into hunting so yeah i didn't know the difference between gauge sizes. i do now though!

are there any guns that are better for turkey hunting that could be recommended? keeping budget in mind :)

Thanks again for all your patience and help!!

Hi. You'll have to do the Hunter's Safety course and the turkey hunting course. As mentioned a 12 or 20 guage with a turkey choke will do.
"...turkeys weigh 200 pounds..." 2.7 days(66.66 hours) to cook. Left overs until Labour Day, then soup until Christmas. snicker.

Mossberg makes a 3 barrel combo that comes with a turkey barrel, a waterfowl barrel, and a deer barrel.

For the money it is probably the best all around deal for a newb to hunting.

Have fun

I use a winchester 1300 full camo, turkey's have very good eyesight. Concealment is the key to success. I use a gobble stopper choke and winchester supreme double x magnum loaded in #4. The only problem with a turkey choke is if they are close like i had them last spring, its easy to miss but when you connect, goodbye head!! Try decoys too, I've had sucess with and without.

21 lbs 3 oz. 9 3/4" beard 1 3/16" spurs, shot at 9 feet.

The wife wants to move to Ottawa. Not sure the move is going to happen but getting to go Turkey hunting is a big plus. Now to get a 200 pounder! Going to need a lot of stuffing :D
