Watching the turkeys out picking the new growth of green grass today, looks like they wintered well. Elk were down last night, looking in very good condition as well...only 60 days to turkey season:)

Green grass??? 60 days??? You must be on the west coast...

Lucky bastard! The resident wolf/coyote population has all but sterilized our area. No partridge, no rabbit, no deer and no turkeys.
Was a flock here last year....last year. Not a track in the bush these days

one of these days I will watch the turkey dvd and take the test but the cost of the license is too much for the number of times I have actually seen turkeys on my land.

The turkeys will be back here soon. They never winter here. The number of turkeys was down quite a bit last year and if it appears to be any lower this year, I may opt out of hunting this year. We will see how it goes.

Anyone in BC hunt turkey with a rimfire?

.22 mag ammo suggestions?

Do you usually aim for the head or the wingbutts?

Yup, I am dreaming about Spring Wild Turkey hunting. Have to dream about something while it's -ridiculous outside, lol. Lots of turkey in all my hunting area's. It's going to be a great Spring season!

Drive around. My usual spot has been barren these last two seasons but 3 miles down the road has been great, even last year when the numbers were down. People get so used to them showing up in the exact same place and they assume the population has been decimated when they stop.

Can't get too comfortable,

Patrick

Jealous, not only do we have an ungodly amount of snow down. Our provincial government has changed, and thanks to those brilliant individuals they have cancelled our proposed turkey hunt for this spring. They've decided to issue more nuisance permits to farmers rather then make money.
