This spring will be my first turkey season and I'd like to put some sights on my gun. I have a Weatherby PA-08 Uplands 20 ga. I've been looking at the Tru Glo sights, but I'm still trying to figure if they will fit on my gun. I've also been looking at the Dead Ringer Beard Buster sights. The price is definitely right for those, but I'm wondering if you get what you pay for. I don't want a red dot or scope, not right now anyway. Anyone have any experience with the Tru Glo or Dead Ringer sights, or any other open sight you can recommend? Thanks for all responses.

You don't need the sights... twelve years of turkey hunting have proved that... when you have time to line up, which is most of the time, the rib mounted bead is more than enough, and when you need to get into action quickly, especially in the woods, a sighting system can hurt your chances... we started with low magnification, wide field of view scopes and moved to red dot sights and then rib mounted Tru-Glo sights and finally concluded that they were totally unneccesary.
I have to agree with Hoyt^^ You can get it done just fine with a bead. Getting the bird in close, especially using a 20 ga, is all you need to worry about. The only benefit I have found from turkey sights was fibre optics in low light conditions, perhaps a lite pipe front bead replacement?

I have to disagree with the single bead thing. Yes it works just fine but I have seen a lot of missed toms because someone could see the bead and the turkeys head, yanked the trigger and watched the Tom fly off. The nice thing about a sight system is that it kinda forces you to pick a spot on the target and keeps your head down and welded firmly to the stock. It also allows you to adjust the point of impact. So if your shotgun throws the heaviest portion of its pattern slightly left , right, up or down. (Which many do) you can adjust you aim point for best results. My son uses the beard buster and likes it pretty well. I use the truglo and have worked well for me. I gave up on the red dots as the batteries we always dead (mostly because I forgot to turn it off).
I started with beads sights then went to a red dot to adjust the point of aim and center the pattern now I am about to try a leupold vxr in a 3to9by40 ,I like a red dot but want a cross hair to back up the battery ,the best of both worlds ,being able to adjust the poi to match the poa is the most important part of pattering a turkey gun ,I like to be able to adjust the center of the pattern to match up to the point of aim ,plus being able to see the whole turkey thru a scope beats seeing just the top of his head over a rib and bead sure is a nice bonus ,Dutch
Can't see beads anymore and my 870 consistently shot to the left anyhow. 42mil Red dot with red and green options. Red in the morning green during the day. One thing you have to get used to is once you get down to take the shot the bird will look further away through the scope than it really is. Just one downfall I find with reflex sites.
