I've been looking for an 88/05/35 rifle to go with my m38 model for quite some time. Kjohn being the fine gentlemen that he is ended my search yesterday. I don't think I'll find a better example of an 88/05/35 for the rest of my days!!

I was like a kid waiting for Christmas this morning waiting for the sunlight to get just right. Ran outside into our porch to snap some pictures!!

It's so interesting to me seeing 2 completely different actions built to the exact pattern. Those Turks sure had their own ideas of how to do things.

The light colored rifle is a typical m38 turk Mauser, it's got about 20 different serial numbers and almost no bluing. It's the first rifle I ever bought on cgn, I took one look at the pictures and fell in love with that beautiful Circassion walnut stock and had to have it. I still admire it to this day and it's probably the most beat up rifle in my rack, too bad these things can't talk.

Then there's this turk'd 88. It's strange as its ALL
matching right down to the bayo. I've never seen one like that, and I don't think I've ever seen one that is this mint. Bluing is 95% or better, doesn't even look like it's been fired many times. It's what I would call the perfect original specimen!!

It's good to have friends, kjohn this one will stay here for the next 40 years or so lol!!

Very nice, I have always found the German Commission rifles and there variants exceptionally interesting.

The interesting thing about the Turkish, is they don't throw away anything. Personally the rifle I would love from them (besides any WWI Turkish Mausers in 7.65x53) is the Enfield conversion that turned them to 7.92x57 (I believe the designation they gave them is M36 rifle).

I agree in that I'd love either 7.65x53 or a turked Lee Enfield.
