Earlier today I picked up part of what I believe is a Turkish 1903 Mauser stock.
Thing is the sling swivel and butt plate retaining screws are brass. Just wondered if anyone could confirm the Turks originally using brass screws?

I thought they only used brass for crib pegs. :)

Sorry I could'nt resist.

I sold my turk mauser so I can't check but from what I remember (imperfect memory FWIW) I did not see any brass screws as you described.

Ohhhh, I see smarty pants came to play eh :D
Infact...it was a full length stock, with all the pertinent metal, until Swedeshooter cut it in half for me :) , now you are quite right, it is destined for brass pegs, and a deck of cards... MUHAHAHAHhahahahahahah
Its not JUST Enfields I mutilate, but they are the most fun :p :D :)
up next, a Mosin Nagant :) :) :)

Naugler, Thanks. Figured it was likely all original. By the way of you need a nose cap, and middle band, drop Swedeshooter a line, he has the front half of the stock.
