Turning my restricted gun into a prohibited

Bet that, if asked for legal basis for this policy, none would be quoted.
I went through this with the idea of using an XP100 action to make a single shot target rifle. A lot of benchrest rifles have been built on XP100 receivers in the US. You can do it, but the rifle will still be classified as restricted.

I posted FRT numbers of some examples - really - that should be all you need??

The FRT numbers do not address the issue of reclassification. They describe rifles as entered into the system. If the registry will not assign a different FRT number recognizing reclassification, the various FRT numbers are irrelevant.
Has anyone successfully had a firearm reclassified, other than prohibited to restricted (rebarrelled handguns) or restricted to non-restricted (rebarrelled M-1 carbines, etc.) or any firearm to a deact?
They refused to reclassify an XP100 as a non-restricted rifle if it were rebarrelled and restocked into rifle configuration, when I tried.

thank you, this is what i am getting to. they don't do it.

I had a M1 carbine usgi reciever only. it was reg as NONrestricted I installed an original usgi barrel..18" so it would be restricted i called and was told i COULD NOT do that i ended up removeing the barrel as they would NOT allow me to do it

It is possible to go from restricted to non-restricted, look at the Beretta Storm. Restricted Carbine, send it off to Epps and it comes back a non-restricted carbine.

I don't have the FRT's, but I'm sure someone does.

yes thats EASY you cannot go from non restricted to restricted so it seems.....

All a verifier's report does is confirm the physical description of the firearm. The functionaries at the Registry are the ones who amend the entry respecting classification. I am sure that there has been a lack of consistancy with respect to what was/is/might be allowed at a given time. At one time, it was an uphill fight to get an M-1 carbine derestricted by rebarrelling it.
