Hey Guys.
I know very little about quality airguns. I'm a canadian tire flyer airgunner, so to speak.
I have a 1990 Crossman 781 in .177. It needs a bit of a tune up, and I had a couple of questions for you wise fellows.
1. Is replacing seals, etc. something I can do myself easily enough? Are there any special tools I would need like a press to force pins out?
2. I notice that I often see two visibly identical airguns. One in canada, the other in the states. The canadian one will advertise "495fps", but the american one (which appears to be identical) will often advertise much higher velocities. My question: is there a way to safely "tweak" the performance of these canadian guns (and in particular, mine) to increase the velocity?
Yeah, I know, I can hear some of you typing now: "just sell the old plastic POS and get something decent and fast"... And yes, I just may get something shiny and new down the road, BUT: This plastic POS was my very first gun as a kid. It went everywhere with me. It's had at least 5000 rounds through it, maybe even double that. Instead of confining it to the back of the closet, I'd love to to tweak it into something I can play with again.
Thanks for your help
