Yes Sir, the first place I looked.Did you try Winchesters website?...

Is yours the compact, or the SR version? Both have 20" barrels, the difference would be a compact size stock or a threaded barrel.
It doesn't actually matter. All XPRs I just looked at on their site list a 8" twist for 223.

Thanks for that information, a great way to check. Why would you not measure it? - a snug fitting patch on a jag - insert a couple inches into the muzzle - make a mark on the cleaning rod on top side at handle and at the muzzle - push in until mark near handle is back on top - another mark near muzzle - withdraw it and measure between the two marks on the cleaning rod - will be really close to your twist rate within that barrel. I probably took longer to type out than to do it.
Most 223s come with faster twists these days, very few people want to be limited to 55gr bullets, especially in a bolt action. 12 twist was common years ago but these days 7-9 is more common.Yes Sir, the first place I looked.
Unfortunately the 22" barrel doesn't have the twist rate listed, or I missed the spec when reading the page.
The 1 in 8 twist from my understanding as a general rule changes to a 1 in 12 twist in longer barrels in order to stabilize heavier 62 or 75 grain projectiles.
I intend to shoot 300 yards and under, so a lighter 55 would be fine but I'm not sure if a 55 in 12" twist is the correct projectile.
SEE ! That wasn’t so Hard after allA second visit to the Winchester website yielded results.
A little more looking around and I found the spec. here ...

It is a 8" twist, so I'll order ammo suitable for it.
Other way around. 1-12 twist will be iffy for 75 gr bullets. - danYes Sir, the first place I looked.

Yes, 22" barrel, I have a decent 4-14 30mm body scope and a 13-27 tripod to use as wellMost 223s come with faster twists these days, very few people want to be limited to 55gr bullets, especially in a bolt action. 12 twist was common years ago but these days 7-9 is more common.
The rifle you linked above has a 22" barrel...?
Yes, I flipped that, the 12" twist is too slow to stabalize the heavier projectiles, but after a certain distance.Other way around. 1-12 twist will be iffy for 75 gr bullets. - dan
