I have a 1:12 twist in my .223 remington. Not 100% happy with the groupings. I know there are a ton of things I can do to help. One thing I was thinking of doing is to switch the barrel to a faster twist like a 1:9 or 1:8. How much of a difference will I see? Is it noticable or maginal and not worth the money.

Just my 2 cents worth !!
Your twist has very little to do with accuracy if your planning on using bullets that weigh in at 55grs. or less a 1-12" twist will work fine. If you wish to shoot the 69 gr Sierra 1-9" is A ok. Sierra 80gr will need the 1-8" twist.
Your best bet to wring the maximum accuracy out of your 1-12" is to stick with bullets weighing in at 55grs. or less. Spend some time and money in bedding and trigger work. Recrowning may be in order as well.

Use the Greenhill formula to determine the best twist rate for your bullets. You will see it is not a question of bullet weight so much as bullet length that impacts twist rates:

Divide 150 (constant) by the bullet length (expressed in calibers) and multiply that by the bullet diameter (expressed in inches).

The trigger on this is the best I have felt. The only that I have used that feels as good is a highly modded 1911. I have accidently bumped it a couple times when I am about an inch low and fired it. It is set up crisp and light and it is a rifle you have to keep off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. I think I will bed it also. I havent tried 45 gr to see how they do but shoot 50, 55 and 62 grain on a regular basis. I am sure if I reloaded I could get better groups but not interested in doing that yet. I shoot up to 300 m now but it seems inconsistant. I have a few things to try and am narrowing things down. The next item is the scope. I am going to try a different scope on there as I just have a cheapy mounted up. I suspect that is a big issue right now.

Thanks for the help.
