Two best guns to own? hmmm

If only two, one would be a .22 semi, for sure. Cheap fun, and lots of it.

Then, I think a 40S&W in a 1911 platform.

But over time, this would become boring,

as gunnutz cannot live on 2 guns, alone.:D

Wow, only 2. I only have 4 but that would be tough. The old Taurus .22 revolver my uncle gave to me the year he passed would have to stay. That's a given, even if I don't really shoot it a lot. He's the one who got me into pistol/handgun shooting in the first place and was a secound father to me and my brother.
The other would be my Beretta 92FS, but really because I just got it and I had so much fun with it the other day at the range.
I like my Colt Commander a lot so it would be hard to do. My XD-9 was my first auto loader I bought on my own, but so far I really am digging the Beretta.

Meh...I'd just start moonlighting to shoot what I want. That being said, any Colt in .357 (Python, King Cobra or Trooper) and a solid semi in either .40 or .45 (I'm thinking Glock or HK) would be my bag.

A 1911 variant can substitute, but I'd behoove myself to anything less than a Kimber or Nighthawk it I were forced down that route.

My .02...

Beretta 92FS/A1. I can't imagine owning one then getting rid of it and expecting anything else to look as good just for the sake of money. IT'S TOPLESS. EVERYTHING IS BETTER TOPLESS.

Then either a 686 or a 1911. I'd flip a coin on that one and sneak a .22 under the radar.

I have had a gen3 G17, gen3 g21(not SF), S&W M&P .40, and a Ruger GP100 4.2".

All I own now is a gen4 g17 and gen4 g21. All others were inadeqate due to length of pull. The trigger has to make contact with the last segment of your finger or you will shoot left (or is it right?). Glocks also have a place on the front of the trigger guard. I use this to help me aim. I stay away from g22's in .40. I noticed a decent amount of glocked up brass when I sorted a 1000 pail from a gun show. .40 cal does not seem to be that reloader friendly.

A S&W revolver might work for me, but semis absorb a lot of recoil and seem to be more comfortable to shoot.

Go with the Glock22
It's field strips in seconds and has interchangeable barrels
I took my gen4 Glock22 to the range the first day I got it,
shot 300 rounds through it and it didn't jam on me
once. It was a great purchase. I wanted a beretta aswell,
but I'm glad I didn't get one.
To each their own....

Take a close look at the STI Spartan ....

ARMCO has them for $849.00

Im trying to limit myself due to financial reasons and i got to thinking, if i could only own two handguns what would they be.

So far im thinking 686 cause i can shoot 357 and 38 special.

Then for semis, as much as i love glocks, i think id go with a beretta 92fs, just cause i love em.

I'm with you GG34....The 686 and 92F turned my crank when they first came out and decades later still do....A great choice then and now....I got others fancier but these two are the keepers.

In a perfect world a third would be allowed and it would be my Diamondback in .22....

Don't be so glad! I own both, and while I love my gen4 G22 (...and 23!) there is something Beretta 92 has that Glock can't match. Both are my favorites tho, alone with CZ 75.

I'm in a similar situation. Young family, finances are tight, time too.

The 2 that clicked for me were;

S&W Model 17 .22lr very nice revolver to plink/practice with and this week I bought a CZ 75B in 9mm for more serious shooting and reloading.

The two most reliable guns I've ever had were my Beretta M9 and my Glock 21 that I used to have. I would love to include my Sig 1911, but I haven't had it very long. That G21 ate everything and never even burped, all for $650 new.
