Although these are not "measured trophies" They were great hunts nonetheless.

I took my GF and her two kids hunting in s Alberta. I had a doe tag, and was able to fill it in 1 hour with one shot. Rifle used was a 270 in an FN Mauser sporter. 4x weaver k4 50's vintage. nosler 140 gr btip.I bought this unit from Why Not this summer and I really like it We staled it 250 yards and we had a great day. They are now eating some prime venison

I had a mule draw and passed up over 120 different legal bucks. on the last day I could hunt I saw a shooted go into a canyon, I bedded down for the shot and 10 seconds later this deer appeared. Assuming it was the 180 class buck that entered, I saw 4 points, some splits and fired at 310 yards. He only made it 10 yards with a perfect lung shot. Unfortunately this was not the same deer that went in. So this is my consolation 4 pt, I probably passed up 40 deer bigger than this one. Rifle used was a 6.5-06 formerly owned by RickF, Toller and Casull. based on a Kimber M89 and topped with a 3-10 leo VX111 firing 125 gr noslers at 3200 f/s, it is about as good a open country deer Rifle as I have used or seen used.
I also took a small WT buck on the last day of season, after passing on 32 wt bucks earlier

that's a nice looking mulie...;)...he'd be right proud to have been taken with a rifle of the class and pedigree of a Kimber especially one so enhanced by the ownership of CGN'ers...:D

on another note....our buddy the dane took two deer with a CGN rifle...a real nice 160 class mulie and a decent whitetail taken with a Savage 99 in 250-3000 that I got from Chewbaka a few weeks ago....

Great stuff, BR. Excellent to bring the kids along. How do you have the patience to pass up on so many opportunities? A tip o' the hat to you, sir!

Congrats on a great hunt.

Cudos for having the little ones along.

Listening to the stories is one thing, but when the young lads get a chnace to go out and see, its worth its weight to have them there.:)

Dave, Nice pics! Thanks for sharing, as has been said it's good to see the GF and kids involved.

Please do me one small favour...take that blasted shellolder off the Kimber! ;)

Nice shooting!!! I for one love hearing about CGN guns!!!
I know what its like, I've killed a few deer with a few Doug guns, My buddy killed a big yote last deer season with one of my Doug guns...
and My Crossbow came from another CGN'r, and it has accounted for a few heads too...

Why not. what was that majic load you have been hiding from me? I used 58 gr of IMR 4831 for this purpose. Excellent results. I have to admit I hated using the 4x scope as Its tough to get a good sight picture when you are used to 7x and 9 x on my Leos

Rickf, I only have a ammo belt on while hunting. And I do see your point on Aesthetics/wear on finish. The more I shoot this rifle the more i like it. ) recoil/muzzle lift but excellent energy/bullet expansion.

And how about that classic rifle that I sold you? (What was it again???)

And was that K4 Weaver not the one I sent with that gun????

Doug
(having another senior moment....)

PS) Yes I ejoy using rifles with a fine pedigree. The .300 H&H that I used to shoot my only mulie ever this fall has been through several Gun Nutz hands (me, m1garandfather, Crashman, RobP, me again, and now bullcoon). Nice to "keep them in the family" as it were..........
