Two, new to me, rifles.

Some might recall the 'project' rifle I had going. Well, here it is:

300 Win Mag on a M1917 Action

Also a sporterised Lee Enfield I traded for with Riflechair.

What kind of scope mount is that on the No1 sporter? I've got an old No1 sporter of my own that I'd like to scope, but none of the aftermarket mounts I've seen are very sturdy looking (ie; the ATI ones that grab the reciever w/set screws). The one you've got looks rock solid

Very nice indeed. Gives me ideas for the spare (already semi-bubba'd) P-14 in my safe. Rechamber to .300 H&H and voila: the classic "303 H&H Magnum." (If the bullets would take the increased velocity, of course.)

poweredbybeer, I don't know what the name of the scope mount is byt it replaces the rear sight. Nor sure if it would work on the #1 rear sight or not.

My #1 deer rifle is a P14 Enfield in .300 Win Mag, converted by Century. The stock is a Bell and Carlson plastic jobbie modified from one for a Mauser 98.

A good point nonetheless. Might be safer to rebarrel. It's not an urgent project, though.. just musing. I already have a very nice BSA-sporterized P-14 that I may have reamed to .303 Epps to take to Africa in 2008.

Did that old barrel go 'Boom,' because it was a defective barrel or because it was defective gunsmithing(rechambering)??

You know, I have heard that so many time. I wonder are there any hard stats on that vis-a-vis commerical rifles?

A one off incident involving a single person is not, in my opinion, a strong inditement of militry barrels.
