The first is a pump action savage 22. Has a vertical mag not the tubular type. Its an octagon barrel too. Has iron site and has one large flat head screw that hold the two halves of the gun together. Says it was patented on Dec 25th 1906.

The second is a CBC Model 122. Its a bolt with a 10 shot mag again. I've mounted a little scope on it.

They both funciton great and I really like them. Just wondering if there gems or just plain old 22's.

Thanks,

Well lets put it this way, I have a nice little Marlin 782 Magnum 22 and it has been a part of my life for 16 yrs and no money could replace it because of the sentimental value it has.....in your case the Savage is definitely worth $$ but we have to remember the 'ol addage "something is only worth as much as one is willing to pay"......I'd check out one of the 'blue books' for the value.

Sounds like a Savage Model 1903, the barrel should be 24" long... They were produced from 1903 - 1916 with limited production postwar from remaining parts.

Is there any engraving on the receiver or any other markings to indicate grade? There was several variations produced which featured different stock types and wood. In addition savage sold higher end models with engravings. Is it a half-pistol grip stock or straight stock?

As far as value is concerned I have seen them vary an considerable amount and without knowing it's condition both in appearance and functionality there is little to say.

regards,

The CBC is a $100 gun, if you can find a buyer. Lots of $100 guns out there.

I would guess if the Savage is in good shape with a good bore and a good shooter, it's probably in the $300 range. Again, if you can find a buyer - there isn't the interest in Savages that there is in Winchesters or Remingtons.

There was a Savage pump like you describe at the local gun shows for several years, didn't sell.

Ya thats what I figured about the CBC. I'm looking to buy a semi just cause I think I need one. A friend just got a winchester 190 that is really nice. Has the tube mag. I'd like to find a fine working condition but ugly looking 1022. The Savage is fully functioning but isn't pretty. Unless I have a rare version with excessive pitting and an uber electricians tape stock. Just was curious if there rare or anything. The savage does seem to be very accurate though.
