two opening morning bighorn rams down

Had a good opening morning, we scouted for 4 days before the opener and found 18 rams, 12 of which where legal. In one of the valleys Two of the rams where in the 170s and one was well into the 180s this was the group we decided to hunt as there was in total 6 legal rams in the bunch. We put them all to bed the night before and after making a 4 hour hike to the top in the dark we where on the rams at first light. Of course the big ram was no where to be seen but we did manage of the 10.5 yr old 170 class rams and one ancient old heavy broomed ram that will be in the 150s.
No ram for me yet but Im headed back in oct to find that big boy if hes still around.

Never hunted Rams before. How do you know the difference between a legal and non legal one? Those beast look huge!

At least one horn needs to pass a line from the front of the base of the horn to the anterior part of the eye to be considered legal.

Or you can go outfitted and pay 35k for a hunt. Which if your interested you can pm me. But we are all reaident who are just sheep hunting crazy.
