Ok. I'll admit it. I've drunk the Tactikoolaid. I came by an SKS and it had already been through the wars. Apparently it was some fellow's go-to coyote gun from the mid 60's (which apparently made it all but 'new' production for him) and it saw good use as such. Before he sold it to the fellow I bought it from, it had finally retired its wood stock, swapping for an ATI Monte Carlo synthetic. Good thing too, the wood stock is... well, pretty bad. It looks like it was used to fend off a horde of rabid beavers. I've tried sanding it, and it basically gets worse, if anything, so no more original stock. Its been bead blasted, then refinished in black Krylon... yeah... but it works.
So, that said, I have NO qualms about ricing it up. One day, dear Fudds, I promise I will buy a nice Russian girl in a laminate stock, and she will remain as Sergei Simonov intended. Until then, I want to get some performance out of this one.
It came with a Norinco-made receiver-top scope mount that is rock solid - it has four screw/nut combos that allow it to clamp solidly to the receiver, and for that I have a 4x32 short scope coming. Also in the mail is a new ATI 'Strikeforce' stock with folding 6-position buttstock.
My question; what is the best 'tactical' style sling to use with this? From what I understand, the stock is basically studded with points for sling swivels, allowing any combination of mountings. That said, my experience with slings has been limited to the most simple 'toss over your shoulder', so would appreciate advice and recommendations for a two-point, flexible-use sling, and other peoples' experiences.
