Two Questions

Handgun IS indeed different.

You need to resize, expand the case mouth, prime, charge, seat and then crimp (taper crimp in autos)

Rifles are generally just resized, primed, charged and seated. You may or may not crimp it.

Straight wall rifle cases are often treated like handgun.

IF you are loaded lead the steps are virtually identical. The only real difference is with bottle neck cartridges they will lengthen over time and must be trimmed while straight walled cases shrink over time.

I suggest the poster get a good book on reloading and read up on the subject. Define what cartridges you are going to reload then look for opinions on what reloading equipment you might want to purchase. Most will suggest a single stage press for rifle where high volume loading is not the order of the day and using one even with pistol will get you over the initial learning curve. If you are going to reload handgun cartridges and forsee volume loading then a progressive press will serve you well.
