Two stage Rem 700 trigger

I can vouch for the CG triggers that Peter sells, they are of the highest quality and uber adjustable.

Peter supplied me with one for a Remington 700 and one for an RPA, both very nice, with good instructions. I have had in the past Jewell triggers, including the 2 stage that used to be available and can say that you won't be dissapointed with the CG.

The Jewells are beautiful single stage triggers but (no offence to Arnold Jewell) the 2 stage version just didn't have the defined feel of a good 2 stage trigger. I believe Jewell has since discontinued the 2 stage model.

The CG is the best trigger. Hard to imagine something better from the USA than from the Brits in this regard but that is the way it is. If you don't understand two stage then you need to learn, honest.

My Trg 22 and AI rifle have two stage triggers. After using the two stage, its hard to go back. I am seriously considering getting one of the cg triggers from Peter for my custom Remington.

If you're familiar with the Anschutz 5018 trigger(match rifle 2-stage), the CG will not adjust as light but is easily as crisp if adjusted correctly. The repeatability and consistency is more critical than how light the trigger can be adjusted. I don't state that as a defence for the CG but as a general acknowledgement of target shooters.
One of my CGs is adjusted to about 12.5 oz release weight and seems to be running fine with no issues.
A hazard of adjusting too light is the trigger will not return to the neutral or pre-pulled position because spring tension is not sufficient. This caveat is stated in the instructions.
2 springs are included for greater range of release weight. About 1-4# total range.
The best thing to do is try a gun with a CG installed or get one and try it, if you don't like it send me a PM - I'll take it off your hands.

Thanks Dryfire.
The is precisely the information I was looking for.

Though I understand the importance of consistency I would think 12 ounces would create a lot more rifle disturbance than a 2 ounce would (6 times)?

Just curious.

I appreciate what you're saying about rifle movement from trigger action. I'm not trying to sell anyone on the CG. There are many TR shooters using heavy 2 stage triggers and shooting world beater scores. A discipline(like other disciplines) where maintaining a sight alignment right through trigger release is paramount. To be blunt, if your trigger is causing upset of the rifle/shooter position there are other issues that need to be addressed.
I use CGs on 40X rimfires (28" barrels) where barrel time of the bullet is considerably protracted relative to CF. My scores with the CG have gone up.
This is anecdotal and hardly a clinical test but if the trigger mechanics were to cause problems it would be manifest here.
David Tubb uses an Anschutz with an adaptor in his Tubb2000 series rifles -
this may also be an avenue.
Whatever trigger you choose I wish you luck with it.

We have some of the latest CG Model 22 version set at 3 oz let-off final pull. The new version uses tool steel for sear as well as other improved steel parts and installs easier than Model 21.

Regards,

Peter
