So whats the deal...I see two tone SIG 226/220 advertised. I looked in the the 2005 SigArms catalog and found no reference to two tone 220/226s. Are these two tones really the stainless models (st) or was there a two tone in these models at one time.

they all have a stainless slide, even the black ones! I believe, now correct me if I'm wrong but SIG makes a full stainless slide and lower called the ST model. All others have the black steel lower. This is just interpretation mind you, someone else what to chime in?

Yup...the catalog shows the stainless slide as an (ST), no mention of two tone for these models!

I dont think the black ones are stainless though...they seem to make a point about the stainless one being hevier and recoil being less if you go with the (ST).

So iamcanadian whats the diff. is the two tone a nickle finish?

only the ST models have stainless FRAME and SLIDE...the rest (even dual tone) have aluminum frames and stainless slide.

I know they are making the P228, P229 and the GSR in two-tone but i didn't see anything for the P220 or the P226...

Perhaps you should visit the sigarms website. Every model they make is available in two tone.

Nope. All versions other than the ST have aluminum frames.

Wholesale sports in Lethbridge has a couple of two-tone Sigs. I've never been a big fan of the two tone look. I like 'em either one color or the other.

As stated, the only units with a steel receiver are the all stainless models.
The extra weight of the all steel gun is quite noticeable when you heft them, and having owned an all steel model in 40S&W., I can confirm that the extra
mass makes it much more pleasant to shoot..in 9MM it must be an absolute
pussycat!

I believe only the ST model has a steel frame.

to me ST model looks better than 2-tone or black, but IMO it's way too heavy for a 9mm/.40

It's only 4 oz heavier than your aluminum Beretta
4 oz  Don't you mean 8?

P226 ST is 42oz, 92FS is 34oz (Vertec is 32oz, Brigadier is 35oz)

most (steel) 1911s are 38-42oz, FYI 92FS Steel I is 41oz...

Like I said ST model looks good but it's not a light gun.

92FS is 35.3 oz unloaded, P226ST is 39.xx oz unloaded (42.2 oz with the mag)

Unloaded doesn’t mean with out magazine it means no ammo in a the magazine.

Don’t know where you got the 38oz but it says 42.2 with mag (or unloaded) for the on the Sig website.

In the users manual for my 92FS and is says "weight w/empty magazine is 33.86oz" so there you have it.

P226ST weights just over 39 oz without the mag. Some guy actually weighted it and posted the results on sigforum. Beretta website says the 92 FS is 35.4 oz unloaded (whatever that means).

In any case ~40oz is probably too heavy for a carry gun, but for a range gun it's perfect.
