I have noticed the supply of type 53 s dried up a while back. I found a dealer, online, who has some Century imports in NRA good condition. I ordered two. I was curious if you fine folks up North have seen a lack of chi com nagants? I am afraid we (America) are going to see most imports dry up.

We don't have a supply of them here. The type 53 is not imported here currently, if ever, in large amount. We do have the polish and russian m44, and the m38. The Hungarian and Romanian 53s are around too.

In the last 25 years I have seen a dozen or so. All were in GOOD NRA condition only. Good looking and well built rifles though.

I have always passed up the rifles I've been offered because of their condition. I guess I should have held my nose and just bit the bullet.

They are not common here in Canada, never have been.

All milsurps will dry up sooner or later. Supply is limited and governnents are sticking their noses into the whole industry. In Texas, you may be seeing your goverment in action. A la Slick Willy's Norinco M305 import ban.
Personally, I wouldn't touch any rifle Century had anything to do with. They are notorious for assembling rifles out of parrts bins with zero QC. As in not even checking the headspace to ensure the rifle is safe to shoot.

I could not pass. Its a gun shop in Houston, that i do lots of business with and trust. The owner told me the stocks are beaters but the bores and actions are good. And for $90.00 a piece, i couldn't go wrong. I am going to restore one and use the other for a wall hanger. Its one of the few Nagants i do not have.

Grab one, for sure! I have a Chang Kai-Shek Mauser. It certainly has the "been there, done that" look about it, which is what I love about it. At $90 (about what I paid for the CKS, incidentally), you can't go wrong. Boy, I sure miss living in Texas!

Aer you listening I RUN GUNS? Get these for $90.00 and flog these to us Canadians for $199.00 and all will be happy.

The reason it is 439$ is because that is a like new Type 53. Most (virtually all) are in pretty crappy condition unlike the Soviet ones which were put through extensive refit programs. That Type 53 is much rarer than a M44 just due to the condition it is in and as such commands a higher price.
