Something you don't see every day - Type 56 SKS from factory 306 with fiberglass "Jungle Stock". From a distance it looks like bakelite or plastic but up close you can see the fiberglass detail. Formed in two pieces with a one piece handguard.

numrich had a listing for these in the catalogue a while back- listed as a Chinese red fiberglas stock-about 120 us at the time

Definitely not cut for the spike bayonet, I think it was just the angle of my photo. I didn't notice anything off when I handled the rifle.

I will need to check next, but maybe it was made for the shorter para blade bayonet?

I have one sans upper handguard. Got it for free from a now-defunct dealer who was throwing it away. He knew what it was but strangely saw no value in it. They're nice stocks.

The tip of the bayonet is usually better protected by the stock then that, the tip should not protrude below the cut out. Otherwise you are catching it on your hand, clothing, other #### lol. Maybe just Chinese QC...

The butt isn't damaged - it still has the oiled wrapper with cosmo protecting the butt plate from rust. The wrapper will remain on as this one is going the way of the Ark in the Indiana Jones warehouse - packed away in one of many crates for safe storage.
