Type 81 high round counts

It will sling the cases if you keep feeding ammo. The only issue that I have seen was because of a dented mag and one other time the mag lip was bent out of shape.I know one guy that will oil the hell out of it ( you can smell him many lanes over) but most just a good wipe down with a oiled rag is plenty good.

How often do folks here clean their T81s, particularly the gas system?
I am wondering how long it takes for the gas system to foul up and stop working.

Im up to 1,000 rounds without issue, but was curious to do a torture test, to see how long it can go without cleaning or maintenance

The effect(s) of not cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo is directly related to the climate and conditions in your area. I had an SKS I didn't clean until 3000 or so rounds of Czech. The only rust that ever formed happened when I left it in my basement for a month, and it was very minor, just a bit in the gas tube. I know people on the coast that can hardly make it home from the range without rusting after a couple hundred rounds.

They could go a very long time with non corrosive until you get a fte. Id say 2k rds atleast if you keep it oiled up.

I’ve done about 2000 rounds and just wipe it off with an oily rag now and then.

I do oil the metal as I’m coastal. That’s all though. It has never jammed or failed yet.

Red folder. To be fair I just passed 5000 this weekend. Also my buddy corrected me I did have one failure to extract but it ripped the rim off a casing so I'm not sure if that's the rifle or the cartridge.
