I think what Tactical Imports is doing now, is just making use of Norinco's excess production power using standard type 81 parts, and putting them together as SA variants, whenever there's a major production run going on. Originally the type 81 assaults, but since the production line for assault rifles is now shut down (and nobody knows whether there'll still be some other 3rd World country coming up and ordering another batch), right now TI can only get access to those LMG parts as LMG's production line is still there... That's why you first have type 81 SR, then you have type 81M, which are essentially all type 81 LMG with slight modifications...
I would love to see some full caliber 7.62x54R type 81, but I guess it too big of a challenge for TI right now, as even if TI can get around with RCMP saying it's only a "variant", TI still needs to do a whole bunch of modifications to the rifle, which means some major retooling at Norinco... Don't know if it's feasible.
But yeah, TI can prove me wrong lol, as long as the barrels are not canted, I'd love to get one for myself...
