So now that the LMG has been on the market for a while and guys have had a chance to test it. My question is which is the most practical? I know the LMG is heavier but what which version of the T81 would take the cake for being most practical if you could only have 1?

Agree folder is far more practical but for the same money you could get a practically similar SKS and several cases of ammo. Also many different accessories available to dress up/customize SKS and none for T81

The LMG is really the only type of weapon in its class that you can buy and own at a "reasonable" price

Short answer - get both!

Gnutzguy on YouTube modified the Magpul Zhukov variable length of pull folding stock so it can replace the stock on the LMG or fixed stock rifle. If you can't get the factory folder rifle, adding the Zhukov folder, removing the carry handle, and removing the bipod on the LMG should give a similar feel, albeit with a heavier, longer barrel. You can look at Gnutzguy's DMR video to get an idea how it would look, though he also added a different foregrip and a scope and scope rail.

Personally I’d go with the LMG. Folders are cool but I think defeated when we have 2 mile long barrels. As for someone that will say the folder is easier to maneuver, you are right but something that size isn’t ideal in those situations regardless.

Rifle > LMG. Regarding practical use.

Long story short, id say that the assembly of the LMG is superior. But the condition of the parts used in the rifles is notably better. Accuracy so far seems slightly better with the LMG.

I have all 3, prefer the Folder for a Bush rifle. The LMG is Awesome at the range with the Bipod. The fixed stock is just like a combination of the others. They all feel great to shoot!!

The LMG has a 1.5 inch longer barrel I believe and weighs roughly 2.5 pounds more. For that you are getting a heavy threaded barrel and longer sight picture. You can shave off some weight by removing the bipod and modifying some lighter furniture to fit if the weight is really a problem.
The LMG is about 10.14 pounds, that's around m1 Garand weight give or take a pound. So really I don't see why everyone keeps saying the lmg is to big or heavy. I've toted hunting rifles all day that weigh more. Like my buddy always said. If the weight bothers you, carry it until it doesn't anymore.
I think the extra advantages of the lmg outweigh it's slightly longer and heavier disadvantages, but that is just me.

Hmm. I guess it boils down to what you will be doing with it. Will you be hiking kms with it on your back or driving up a logging road to blast some stuff? Would you utilize the bipod for longer shots or just use a stump/bean bag?

The only T-81 I have ever handled was the sample model at the Toronto sportsman show several years ago.... I was not impressed at all and avoided the rifle entirely. the LMG version came out with significant improvements in quality you could notice right away. Being a niche fun range gadget I felt he LMG would be more fun and gave it a chance. Its still in the bag, I really should clean it up and give it a try.
