Anyone else is having issues trying to put LS (left side, original import) safety on new SE rifle?
It looks to me that problem is twofold.
First, as you can see recess for spring on RS is a bit shifted to the right, compared to LS safety.
Second, moon-shape recess on the receiver is on left side on earlier imports, while new import has recess on the right side.

As the result of this I was able to put RS safety on old import gun, but could not install correctly LS safety on new import rifle.

Slightly different placement of recess for spring.

LS safety on new import rifle is not secured by spring. One can't push spring into recess by pushing it.

Older import receiver recess on left side and no recess on right side.

New import (SE) recess in on the right side and no recess on the left.

very interesting. the issue is not your "first", you didnt line the two properly. rather its your "second".

the standard selectors that came with the rifles are not interchangeable. meaning, standard LS selector wont go into a rifle that came with a RS selector, vice versa and that is bcos of the half moon cut on the receivers but RS option selector from the pic kit will work in standard LS selector rifles bcos the RS option selector from the kit doesnt need the half moon cut.

so a caution to those who are thinking of buying the opposite side selectors. make sure they are option selectors and not from a standard rifles cos standard selectors will not work.

You're right, I did not aligned two safeties properly on the picture. When aligned properly they seem to have recess positioned at the same distance from the left.
However I do not agree with you conclusion, I was able to install RS safety from new import to the rifle from the old import. Geometry of safety as we found is not contributing factor, half-moon recess is and I think there's one more - parkerizing. It adds a layer on the surface of receiver and along with missing half-moon cut on the left contribute to impossibility of drop-in installation of LS safety. Of course there are some tolerances in place so everyone's mileage can vary.

lets deal with one item at a time. you and i are now saying the same thing, at least about the standard selectors. i should clarify, when i said the standard selectors wont go into the receivers, i meant it wont go "all the way", no half moon cut is preventing it so therefore geometry of the standard selectors are not a factor. true, the lack of half moon cut is but... for the option selector from the kit to work, the geometry did become a factor, the head of the option selector was reduced, thats why i said it doesnt need the half moon cut.

Try switching the red safety plates around as well. The safety plate that came with my new folder will not work with the left hand safety in my LMG as the spring tab that sits in the safeties slot is slightly wider, it's actually so wide on the folders that it rubs on the trigger.

I've switched the red safety plates as well as the safeties and it is working fine on both.

yup, the selectors did work but it was rubbing against the side of the receivers.

Anyone having problems with the flat of their new right-side safety (where it is exposed on the left side of the receiver) binding with the optic plate, making the safety incredibly stiff?? My safety is fine with the plate loosened, but if it's tightened down properly, it definitely interferes. Time for the dremel to come out...

I tried switching plates, did not work for me, no way to make it work on new SE. I gave up and kept RS safety, anyway I rarely use it.

what about filing the inner part of the selector that rubs against the receiver? like in a 45* angle?
