Type 81 upper hand guard rattle

Hi, just a quick question for type81 owner is it normal for my upper hand guard to rattle up and down ? Is yours like that too?

Mine can be really loose if u dont tighten the handguard down properly with the elevation knob. Try resetting the handguard in place a few times.
 
Elevation knob is the big thing to watch. Make sure there's no lose material stuck in there not slowing it to seat. I had a small film of sawdust on my rifle under the handguard
 
Is it front to back or side to side movement? Maybe on the handguard metal where it locks into the gas cylnder bend that tab down a titch more so it holds it better?
 
It’s up and down movement, not side to side, I tried to bend it a little and it’s a little bit better but their still a good rattle. Their no contact between the upper hand guard and the lower one if I don’t put pressure on it to stop the rattle.

Hmm, how many mm of movement would you say? I switched my lower handguard out with one from an AK and its so tight I have to use pliers to turn the elevation knob. If it bothers you that much you can always do that?

Mine was the same when I switched to Magpul AK furniture, so tight it was difficult to turn, I just filed the tabs down a tiny bit and now it is tight but you can get it off by hand.
