Type 81se build quality?

Build quality is very good for what it is.
Reliability is 10/10.
The T81 is easily one of the most reliable rifles on the Canadian market.

I agree reliability is exceptional, these eat anything and run non stop. Quality is right on par with the price tag, it’s no Daniel Defense but is great for the money.

Ive held every version, the se is by far the nicest, dust cover sits flat, rivets are all set flat. The blondes and lmg both have crappy rivet jobs people just dont notice it. Having said that the red wood is slightly softer than the blonde. Ive also come across blonde ones where the bold hold open fails because the block is riveted too low to catch the bolt

I could never get past the BBQ paint finish... phosphate IMO belongs on a very select few firearms and the Type 81 aint one of them.

Most ak rifles are in fact phosphate then painted or just painted. Also with time the phosphates will have less rust issues. Lots of norinco ak are rusty down south

Wish phosphoric acid was easy to get here , make my own rust/blue/phosphate hybrid coating .. works great on autobody panels

The blueing is but like I said all the blued versions are literal crap. Some of them you can see the shanks of the rivets theyre so canted. The se is the nicest all around.

My rifle has loose rear trunnion rivets after shooting more than 5000 rounds through it. The spot welds on the gas tube broke as well. I was able to weld it back together with my tig welder.
