Type 97 Accessories?

All I can think of is a big ass expansion chamber, like the Noveske. But it could be made much simpler. Or change ammo, downloading it.

I guess I'll wait to see what those Noveske-esk new Gas booster/hiders are like that Lector hinted at. In the mean time, I'll continue to shoot it. The smoke is really nothing more than a minor annoyance.

I am not sure what to say.
Remember the piston/gas-block are not designed to "seal" like some other guns.

Maybe you shoot with oil in the gas booster or in the gas block.
Shoot it dry - see if it is any different.
(If oil gets into the barrel, forget the smoke annoyance,
you will ring the barrel and it's garbage).

Either way, maybe Deckard is right,
you might have to live with it.

I do lightly oil the gas booster, though I dry the block. I'll shoot it dry and see what happens.

Thanks for the suggestions. If you or Deckard ever make it over to Victoria one of these days let me know, the beers are on me:cheers:

I tried my C7 bayonet on my Type 97. It does fit but will not lock. It seems that a modification to the bayonet rather than the rifle could be done.
You are right. The lug on the 97 is longer,
so the the 2 latches on the bayo will not lock
(in other words they don't have a notch to lock into).

The bad part is that on the 97,
the distance between the lug and the bore axis
is smaller than the same distance on the AR by a good 1/8" or so.
This makes the bayo to sit with the rear part higher
and the bayo (handle and blade) are not parallel with the barrel.
The bayo looks like it droops. It's goofy.
A clamp-on collar with a lug at the right distance from the bore
can be imagined by someone,
but personally I would cut and mod an AR FSB (the chunck with the lug)
and put a bushing inside to fit the 97 barrel.

The following info in this post is from me, not Joe Dlask:

1. IMO, providing the flash hider
is very possible as well - not the YHM, but the 4 cuts type,
6 cuts birdcage or with un-cut bottom (compensator type).
Again, IMO only..........

Well, I was wrong about the YHM.
LMFAO :D
Somebody up there loves me...
Some guy from here told Joe Dlask what I said
and this is Joe's response (just to prove me wrong and laugh on me):
