Cleaned a type 97 today has approz 1200 rnds through it reloads and factory ammo no corrosive ammo

the bolt face has several holes around where the primer edge would be pitting not holes

anyone else seen this on a type 97 bolt?

All guns do this when primers pop pin holes. Winchester primers a few years back had a bad batch and they did this. My savage 10 has a few pits in bolt face. It’s not the end of the world.

i hadnt noticed any popped primers or anything out of the ordinary with the spent cases

only change in the reloads is federal primers as we ran out of winchester

after 5K+ through ar15s we did not see this bolt face wear thats why the concern on the type97

Ya if you were running winchester primers thats prob what did it. They get a little pinhole and cut that pit like a torch. Your bolt face is getting kind of bad. Mine only has a pit or 2
